
In fact, just call me the Crumble Queen. Bow before me minions! Okay I kid but honestly apple crumble is the first dessert I taught myself to make and it’s ridiculously simple. And since I live in a house full of fat people (cough cough, sister dearest, cough) I have had more than enough practice making it. I have friends that vex if I show up in their house without crumble. You’re having FFF? Me I’m having FFC (Friends For Crumble). The best accompaniment for this is Coffee Ice cream from ColdStone. INGREDIENTS
Crumble
1 cup oatmeal (instant oatmeal is fine)
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 pinch of salt
1 ½ sticks of butter
Filling
4 large apples, peeled and sliced
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven at 350F
Slice and core apples. Put in bowl and add flour, sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. Combine well and set aside
In dry bowl, mix oatmeal, cinnamon, flour, brown sugar, and salt till well combined. Add cubes of butter a bit at a time and work with finger tips until mixture looks like bread crumbs
Pour filling into oven safe dish or ramekins. Cover completely with crumble topping.
Bake at 350F till apples are bubbling and topping is golden brown
Serve with ice cream. Custard and crumble is an abomination peoples
